Rye Scallop Festival - hotel accommodation

There is nothing better to do in the middle of winter than to wrap up in your warm clothes and head on down to Rye to enjoy the Scallop Festival for two weeks in the middle of February. Start the day with a Strand House Scallop and Black Pudding breakfast and then have a wander round the antique shops in Rye hunting for a bargain, go for a bracing walk along the seashore and come back for a spot of lunch in a warm inviting pub. Then a spot of afternoon tea before one of Mary's wonderful dinners with a scallop starter and a fish main course followed by a naughty pudding.

Scallops are large suculent shellfish in a large shell with a soft white body and a bright orange roe. They are unique shellfish because there are a wide range of recipies from chilli sauce ones, to cream sauce ones to pan frying to grilling on shewers. They are at their best when the water is cold so February is ideal and then you can come back to stay at Strand House in September and go to the Whitstable Oyster Festival.
