Lying at the foot of the cliffs beneath the 13th Century Strand Gate is The Strand House. Built on the Old Quay and now a Grade II Listed building, it was previously Winchelsea's Old Work House and Smugglers Haunt. A working National Trust farm adjoins the property offering wonderful views from most rooms and some fine walks.
