A great place for bikes, on National Cycle Route 2
We get quite a number of cyclists at Strand House perhaps it is because we live on a nice flat marsh. Cyclists can bring their own bikes or can hire them from Rye Hire and we have a shed in which they can be stored over night or they can be chained up.
National Cycle Route 2 goes past our front door and has an alternate route through Winchelsea and Pett. This is incorporated in the Rye to Romney Circular ride and the Winchelsea to Rye Circular ride which are long rides covering most of Romney Marsh and Pett Level. Shorter Rye Cycle Rides include 6 routes and the Exploring Winchelsea has two circular cycle routes around the town.
Further afield there is the excellent traffic free Hastings & Bexhill Waterfront and the countryside Cuckoo Trail which is one of the most popular family cycle rides in the South East and gained its name from an old Sussex tradition of releasing a cuckoo at the Heathfield Fair. It runs from Heathfield to Eastbourne along an old railway line and further rides branch off. For those wanting hilly country Route 18 Ashford to Tentderden offers a good choice as do other routes in Kent.
