"We set out looking for a venue for our Wedding knowing that we wanted our guests (20 in total) to be treated to a memorable day including a 'fine dining' experience. When we visited Strand House for the first time and met with Mary the Proprietor we felt we had found our dream venue and could offer our special guests so much more than just food! Strand House is an authentic Tudor house steeped in history and oozing charm and character at every turn. We delighted in matching the rooms to our guests, the house is so warm and inviting you feel like you just want to be enveloped by the comfy sofas whilst sitting by a roaring fire reading a book or chatting and enjoying freshly brewed tea/coffee or a tipple of your choice. Our guests arrived to be shown their rooms, handed an itinerary for the days events and then offered light refreshments. All this was going on whilst we, the Bride & Groom were relaxing in our suite and getting ready for our nuptials. We didn't need to get involved, the hairdresser arrived followed by the photographer and then the registrars, all escorted over to us by Mary, no effort or stress on our part. When our hour of marriage was nigh we arrived fresh and excited to waiting guests all expectant in the beautifully decorated dining room which had been transformed for our intimate ceremony. A drinks reception with delicious canapés followed in the lounge room with a roaring log fire whilst the dining room was once again transformed back for our wedding feast. Tom, (Mary's son) was chef for the day and we were treated to a fabulous feast, all produced from locally sourced organic ingredients, so many delicious flavours and tastes - our guests were crowing. Hugh, Mary's partner was on hand as a calm presence in the background. We had the house to ourselves for the remainder of the evening, our guests were not early to bed. In the morning ALL were up to enjoy the fabulous Sussex breakfast which was not to be missed.
Our wedding guests left exactly as we wanted them to, having been thoroughly spoilt from start to finish and enjoying every minute. We've been told by more than one ... 'The best Wedding ever' and we owe Mary, Hugh, Tom and their support team, for whom nothing was too much trouble, a huge 'Thank You! for making our Wedding so special and memorable. Nothing was left to chance and the attention to detail was immense.
We will be back and know our guests will be too! We are already debating which lovely room we will try next.
